News

Hello All,
Apologies for a late update of our Club News – I’m afraid a vacation has interfered
with my routine. However, I am pleased to record that after a cool damp start to the
season, the 2nd half of May is providing weather much more suited to Bowling – hope
you’re making the most of it !

Firstly, thanks to everyone who attended our Official Season Opener on Sunday 16th April
with Cllr Maxine Mitchell, Mayor of Caldicot, having been invited to deliver the first Bowl -a first experience for her I believe.

Since then, Mens & Ladies fixtures have started and both sections have already enjoyed
their respective short Tours. (look for Photos in the Gallery!)

Our Ladies didn’t venture far, but thoroughly enjoyed their 4-day visit to Weston-
super-Mare playing 4 matches in the area, several of which were believed to
have been won – they clearly had such a good time they can’t remember the
results !!. However, what is well known that they were well supported by their
mascot – Rosie, who has apparently already made previous appearances at
Potters.

The Men had an extended weekend visit to Paignton, again playing 4 matches
over 4 days. Our Men did maintain their by winning all 4 matches, with good
levels of competition enjoyed in them all. The Men were favoured with very good
weather, so good in fact that Mark Lewis took a plunge in the Sea – an act
performed in aid of charity – not his own !! In fact his effort raised £85 for
Prostate Cancer – well done Mark and a big thank you to all in the Touring party
who supported him.

On Sunday 21st May, the Club hosted the annual EMBA Trophy game, with winners and
finalists of the 2022 EMBA competitions playing for East Monmouthshire against Caldicot
(the 2022 EMBA League winners). Whilst a friendly fixture, there were plenty of rivalries on
the green and I am pleased to report that Caldicot are able to boast a victory – keep it up
Guys!! Presentations were made to all 2022 Competition winners and finalists at the end of
the game. Again thanks to all who played and supported the event, the support was very
much appreciated by the East Monmouthshire Association and its representatives present.

A reminder that we have a Friendly Mixed fixture at Home to Swindon West End on Sun 4th
June – always a fun event – get your names on the Availability Sheet asap!!!
